Cyber Essentials password requirements (summary)
- Minimum 12 characters with no complexity rules, or minimum 8 characters where MFA is enforced.
- NCSC recommends three random words — long, memorable, hard to guess.
- Block common/weak passwords; use MFA wherever it's available.
- Never reuse passwords across systems; store them in a password manager.
- Change a password only when you suspect it's been compromised — no forced periodic expiry.
